A question common in the social sciences is whether the research you're reading, or performing, is qualitative or quantitative. This can sometimes be a difficult distinction to make, as these two research methods often overlap, but there are some key differences.
In short, qualitative research creates non-numerical textual data, and quantitative research creates numerical data.
